ter saudades

So I’ve been on this big country music kick this past month, which makes sense to me because it’s all I listened to as a child but I’m sure it’s weird to anybody else. This song came on Pandora and it totally floored me because 1) the arrangement is really beautiful and 2) this is a song by the one of the most famous male country singers in the world right now and it’s about abortion (in part) and not the regretful kind! The narrator and his girlfriend have an abortion and it’s unfortunate but that’s just how it goes! No rending of garments! No ululation! People give country music (and people from the South) a lot of shit because they assume that they’re backwards and conservative, but I’ve yet to hear a pop song approach this. This is some progressive stuff.
